Is replacing the minecraft-launcher directory dangerous?

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Today I was about to start up Stoneblock 2 like normal and before I clicked play in the Minecraft launcher it said that launcher is out of date and a new version was available. So I went and installed the newest .deb package on the official Minecraft website but it still had that message for the minecraft launcher when started from the FTB app. The solution I thought of was to take the minecraft-launcher files from "/opt/minecraft-launcher" and replace the files in "/home/username/.ftba/bin/minecraft-launcher." Is this a dangerous move to make and could it cause data loss to my mod-packs or unforeseen consequences in the future? Is this a good solution to keep the minecraft launcher up to date on the ftb app?
