Is it possible to make tinker's tools with 1 and a half material, or do you need 2?

I have 1 slime crystal and 1 slime shard (half a slime crystal) and I want to make bow limbs out of them, but if O put both in my part builder with the bow limb pattern, it won't let me craft it.

Do I need 2 slime crystals and then I will just receive an extra shard after, or can it be done and I am just missing it?

Afaik the items you build with need to stack. If you could somehow break the crystal up in 2 shards it might work...
I think you just need to go make another crystal.
