Ionetty only for the pc on local network

I have a seperate pc running ftb university and my friends are able to join without issue but when I try I get ionetty. Both pc's are hardwired to the same router and I've tried my local ip and my external with no changes. Any things I havent tried yet?

You should use the IP of the pc running the server.

server.properties should not contain a IP

wow im dumb, im used to running the server on the same pc I play on so I was using my local ip not the server pc's. Thanks for the help
