So I hate curse, so I'm looking for help installing ftb Infinity Evolved. I downloaded the ftb mod pack from the website and i have forge 1.7.10 installed. But when i copy things over i get error after error. I have tried to google my problem, but all the answers point to using curse.

Is there a way to install it directly or am I better off just using curse.

Good grief I hate the curse client. Please don't make us use it.

To the OP, how did you copy it over? I am playing FTB IE Skyblock using both MultiMC and the Vanilla launcher.
I used the FTB launcher to download the pack, and then copied FTB instance folder over the vanilla profile / MultiMC instance folder.

All I had to do in MultiMC was create an instance, set it to the correct Vanilla version (1.7.10), apply the latest (not reccomended Forge) for 1.7.10, and change the max memory to more as the default memory was insufficient to load.

Got a Curse allergy ehh? Or just hate it when things are made easy.

Curse Voice can eat a load though. Not that it's bad it's just irrelevant and redundant. There where like several VOIPS on the market that are not only better but more established. They all have overlay features woth the added bonus of not having all your other game accounts being creepily sniffed out.
They seriously need to make that feature opt in.

All that said the launcher is exceptional.

Perhaps we were looking at a different launcher.
The curse voice UI client makes it clear that it is not a game launcher first and voip app second, it is clearly a VOIP client and the fact that it can actually launch things is an incidental afterthought. You can't even (I couldn't) browse packs and launch instances without logging in with a curse account.

I'm not using MultiMC, I have not heard of that one. But I just DL'd FTB from the website and copied file for file into the correct folder.. or should i say what I thought was the correct folder.

My aim is to get this working with just the standard Mojang client, I hate having multiple programs just to run minecraft in different game modes/mods.

If you are using the Curse Launcher I can't help you.

If you are using the FTB launcher to download a pack:
Launch FTB and run the modpack you want to use to download it / update it to the version you have selected. Once the client launches exit.
If FTB was "installed" into C:\FTB, and you had downloaded "Agrarian Skies" there will be a folder of interest:

c:\FTB\AgrarianSkiesHQ\minecraft

This folder will contain config, mods, custom assets, scripts and other stuff.

Now, open your Vanilla launcher. Create a new profile and call it something. e.g. "AgrarianSkies"
Make sure the profile is pointing at the correct version of Forge / MC for the modpack.
Set a custom profile path. "C:\MinecraftProfiles\AgrarianSkies".
Make sure the custom Java CLI is enables so you can edit / add a -Xmx parameter with at least 2048M.

Copy the contents of C:\FTB\AgrarianSkiesHQ\minecraft, into C:\MinecraftProfiles\AgrarianSkies.

Launch the profile and it should load.

Using MultiMC there is an import option that I have not gotten to work. But the process is the same. Create an instance in MultiMC, and ensure it is the correct version of Minecraft for the modpack. Then edit the instance and click the "Add Forge" button and choose the appropriate version of forge. Open the instance folder - if you had installed MultiMC to C:\MultiMC, the folder will be: C:\MultiMC\instances\AgrarianSkies\minecraft (iirc), and copy in the contents of C:\FTB\AgrarianSkiesHQ\minecraft into that.
Edit the instance memory allocation to be larger and launch it.

I just put up with that minor nuisance. And I know the VOIP is SUPPOSED to be the main offering. I don't really care to be frank, I feel like I'm cheating out Curse by using the launcher.

It was annoying at the start but once I disabled all the Voice and perverted account sniffing nonsense I found the launcher to be essential. Just can't go back to MultiMC, chopping and changing my pack is just too damn easy with the Curse launcher. I'll put up with The trash Voice bloat for mod update indicators and automatic core mod DLs. Having to scour all the forums and personal mod pages for mods was too big of a chore for a pastime that isn't a chore.

Also at op; I know you feel that having to DL another program to play feels unessesary but installing MultiMC is a sight more convenient then trying to get forge to work with just the regular launcher.

This worked like a charm, thanks so much!
