I don't mean to stir a hornet's nest here. That being said and considering that FTB is primarily a server-oriented modpack, I was perplexed by a rather interesting question:

Why is ComputerCraft still included in this modpack?

Now, I love playing with CC in my SSP games. However, every server I have logged onto so far has either disabled this mod or crippled it into being the mod equivalent of the short-bus riding, window-licking kid you have to watch to make sure he doesn't hurt himself. From what I have been led to understand, there are ways to program CC computers to completely bork server maps (among other "things").

Just wondering.

For people who want it? It doesn't do any harm in single player. Even if it's installed it doesn't affect the game unless you want to use it. And not everyone plays on huge servers. If you're just playing with a few friends you don't have to worry about server protection too much. I can see why you'd disable it on large servers though. Turtles can cause some widespread damage if abused, especially when dozens of people have easy access to them.

There has been so many reason why it gets pulled from a lot of servers the main one is stupidity I seen a mob grinder build on one that used 26 malee turtles & not one jar or enchant turtle, you can guess what happened, there has been issues with monitors too but I beleave most all that is fixed, but the biggest by far is that lua can give way to much power to any one that knows the code, by that I mean they can kill a server with little problem.

edit: Aint sure if this one is fixed yet, turtles reserver xx amount of ram for looping programs, so run on start up progs can eat a lot of the server ram, plus even if turtle terminates prog the ram may not be released to the stack, dan knows of it & its maybe fixed or will be in 1.5+

I tend to keep away from the larger servers that cripple players unless they donate or w/e, I prefer the smaller communities, more friendly & fun most of the time & wise guys get seen & weeded out faster.
