If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

On some modpacks, the whole ip comes up and i can connect straight through direct connect and it works, but on some modpacks, when he opens to lan, a 5 number code pops up that starts with "5", and when i put my own ip before the 5 letters on direct connect, for example "123.456.7.89:54321" for example, and then i connect, and it wont work! please help :)

That number that comes up is the port that the games is open on.

If you're friend opens the server, then you need to type the ip-address for his computer + the port that shows on his screen. This you do on your computer that you're trying to connect from.

Example:

Computer 1 opens to lan and it specifies port 54321 and the computers ip-address is 192.168.1.100

Computer 2 opens multiplayer and adds this to server address 192.168.1.100:54321

If computer 2 can't connect to computer 1, then there's probably a firewall blocking on computer 1 and doesn't allow incomming traffic.

That's exactly what i am doing! and it wont work, it just says "Connecting to server..." and then nothing happens. I tried to turn off the firewall and it still wont work.

The machine acting as server - as in "hosting the server"

If you can't read and understand - there's not much more I can do for you.

Perhaps someone else can explain it better for you.
