after playing 1.6 with Hats and Morph for a day or 2 now, I started thinking about some ideas I had for Hats again, and started thinking of some ideas for Morph aswell. but I was also wondering what kind of ideas other people have for these 2 mods. and seeing there isn't really a modtopic for these mods, I thought of posting a topic here.
the idea that I had for hats is probably the same that everyone is thinking, having the hats add certain effects or boosts depending what hat you're wearing. like having an armor-like hat would give you some extra bit of armor, or wearing a hat based on a character would give you some extra speed or jumping height, or maybe add some low enchantments to your tools/armor like unbreaking or efficiency. I was also thinking of using the hat stand for some extra boosts aswell. it could act like a small radius beacon, giving players within a block or two a small boost effect for a few seconds. or if you'd place a cat hat on the stand, creepers would act like the hat was a real cat. for server purpose I was also thinking of giving the option to collect more then 1 of the same type of hat, so you could trade the extra hats you gathered with other players, as they'd probably be wanting those hats if they things like boosts and such. and with that some hats should become very rare to collect, and with the rarity they'd also have a much better effect on the player. with this I was also thinking of having "tiered" hats. you'd only find the better hats on harder to kill mobs, and the more useless hats on simple mobs...
for Morph, I really like it, but on the other hand, I also hate it. just kill 1 bat and you're set. you can fly and speed through the landscape and you only have to kill 1 mob.... that's just a bit too easy for me. I like that certain mobs have certain abilities, but I would really like to see more abilities added. mobs like ocelots and horses should give you a speed boost, and the horse should also give you a jump boost. skeletons should give you a bow with infinite arrows, blazes should give you free fire charges to shoot, and ghasts free fireball, squids should give you a swimming boost etcetcetc
with this it would also be nice if morphs from mobs added by other mods would automatically get the abilities they should have, but that's probably hurt. but this only make things even more easy, so there should be something in exchange. like when you're in morph, if a mob can't wear armor, then the armor you're wearing will not give any armor points. your health should also be equal to the mob you're morphing into. your inventory also basically becomes locked depending on the mob you're morphed into. a zombie/skeleton would have the same inventory as a normal player, but a bat would only have slot 1 accessible. you also won't be able to use any tools unless the mob can use it, so for vanilla only zombies or skeletons could use the tool you're holding. but in exchange for that you'll be able to use certain abilities of mobs, like a bow from a skeleton, fire charges of blazes, fireballs of ghasts, and extra melee damage from zombies. this makes the harder mobs more attractive to collect, instead of just flying above the ground as a bat hitting all the mobs with a sword while they can't hit you. another feature would be that you can't stay in a morph for unlimited time, you can only stay in a morph for a short time, after that you'll have to spend experience points for your morph. the longer you stay in the morph, the more expensive it'll get and when you're out of experience, you'll turn back into yourself. you can extend the morphing time and the inventory lock by killing the same mobs over and over, so similar to soul shards. there's several tiers, and the higher the tier, the more mobs you need to kill.
it's a bit tl;dr wall of text, but that's about all the ideas I have for hats and morph right now.
anyone else willing to share their ideas for these 2 mods?
