Hello guys,
I have some questions concerning the creation a FTB Infinity server on a real "server", so nothing like nitrado, creeperhost or redstonehost.
  1. Is this possible with no deep understanding of servers in general?
  2. If so, can you give me some information / guides how to do so?
  3. I want to specify some config files and add some mods, how does this synchronize with the clients?
Pls note that this thread does not involve any advertisment like many other questions concerning hosting.
If you know sth about my questions, any help is appreciated.

1. Not really, you don't need to be an expert but you need to become savvy or else be the proprietor of a trash server.

2. Nothing comes to mind I googled bits and peices of info together.

3. Minecraft syncronises absolutely nothing between server and client. The client needs to match the server almost exactly. At least mods that add entities and blocks.

The only real hurdle is forwarding your ports and setting up a server ip address.
Running the server client is relatively simple. I don't even think you have to write a .bat file anymore.
That being said the last server I ran was probably 2 maybe 3 years ago. This was back when technic was the big thing.
I esstially Google'd everything.

On point 3: The purpose of launchers (such as FTB) was and is to install modpacks because minecraft (and forge) do not. As such, if you customize a modpack you will need to (get permissions to) list the modpack as a private modpack in FTB / Curse / ATLauncher / Technic OR explain to your users how to set it up themselves. The 2nd method does not work that well.
