Okay so I have a guy that has a regular Minecraft server.
And since I have been playing FTB alot I do know how SUPER DIFFERENT it gets by moving on to FTB.

BUT.... How do I explain for a guy, new to Minecraft that FTB is worth the time to install?
I do not find a single good list of features FTB adds, only lets play on youtube and a simple modpack listing...

Nothing really attracts serverowners to this pack UNLESS they have experience in it.

So does anyone have a youtube video or similar that explains both the changes of gameplay, and how the handling of the server works?

He's new to minecraft. Let him enjoy vanilla for a while. Imagine that you've never had ice cream before. You get your first taste and are having a good time with you first scoop of vanilla. Then some guy runs over and tries to put chocolate chips, sprinkles, whipped cream, m&ms, yogurt, bananas, bacon, whiskey, pistachios, & cherries on your cone.

You'd think, "Geez guy, lemme finish this first before we go off the deep end."

Now I want a gelato.

Nothing wrong with vanilla. If he learns to get creative with hoppers, droppers, dispensers, pistons, comparators and redstone logic, he will engineer your pants off once he does get into tech mods. But if you let him start with MFR and Computercraft, he'll never learn to do anything properly. ;)

I agree. Being pretty good with redstone sure helped me a good bit with the mods ;)

Yeah, having Vanilla knowledge is going to help you a lot in mods, ironically. Well, it'll at least make it so you don't end up pulling DireDerps.
