We all know a 36HP boiler is ultimately the "best" boiler on the "market' but while it's the most compaction, fueling, using, and heating. That boiler isn't for everybody cause what's if you need a low power boiler running for a couple of hours a stack of fuel so you can keep your few machines ready at hand and not waste valuable fuel. Or just you want efficient burning but don't wanna deal with huge fueling requirements and wait for hours for that 36HP boiler to get up the temp and then leaving it on 24/7 so it's actually efficient burning. Now RC boilers are not the only ones on the shelves! Stay and discover other boilers that beat 1x1 RC boilers counterparts. However I'll still talk about it of course so we can compare the others as apples to apples.
Here the Showcase of the boilers (far left is the RC 1x1 LP boiler, Middle is GT's Small Coal Boiler, and far right is also GT and it's the High Pressure Coal Boiler)
Now time to Boil these guys down to your needs!
While the leakiest of the three it's output is moderate and so is burning duration of 4.3k ticks and probably the cheapest boiler. Put out about 43k steam for every Charcoal so the worst for efficiently. But hey your aren't paying much so it's makes it up in the price tag.
Now we're talking! this guy is probably the boiler's of choice for starters. Burns an entire stack for Hours! Since a unit will last for 9.3k ticks! (longer than Bioutonius peat!) Also it's relativity cheap once you go for a good hour mining trip. Only bad is it's only going to crank out 5 steam per tick but hey if your that guy that leave things burning to leave things ready to go then this boiler is for you! Since this guy will burn nice and slowly and output at a steady peace these things will avoid some problems of wasting fuels.
However these may be cheap and low fuel consumption rate, Some demands something better and willing to deal a little efficiency lost of using max RC boilers cause they are sometimes impractical to use.
Then look no further than your Blast Furance cause this durable boiler got you covered!
Somewhat faster than a RC 1x1 LP boiler at burning rate but hey 52.2k steam per Charcoal burnt! At a good 15 steam per tick which is almost enough to get a Commercial Steam engine to full power. Make sure you get a charcoal to this guy every 3.4k ticks. (All tested as the best of my effort, starting from full temp and keep all them on charcoal and cut them off as they done burning the last piece and of course filled of water)
Both GT boilers also give you a Dark Ash every now and then so you get some Carbon back! So you can later make those Advanced Machine blocks or even grab yourself a full set of coal amour! GT boilers are picky on fuel using so make sure you got charcoal, coal, or coal coke to fuel those guys up.
So I hope this help you guys that playing 1.6.2 on deciding on what boiler to get your gears turning. My personal preference is the High Pressure Coal Boiler followed by the Small Coal Boiler for like I said starting out and making sure I can have power for Hours!
