I'm trying to figure out how large/far apart Thaumcraft nodes have to be to share vis with one another. So I have some questions.

1. How close/large does a node have to be to transfer Vis to another node?
2. How close/large does a node have to be to receive Vis from another node?
3. Are 1 and 2 the same?
4. Is there a limit to how quickly a node can transfer Vis, or does it just matter whether or not there's a nearby node to receive the vis which isn't already overburdened?

I ask this because I'm setting up a network of of pure nodes around my base to disperse flux faster, with one large node in the center surrounded by crystal clusters. I'm curious whether this network will allow the center node to disperse its vis to the rest of the world more effectively.

In my experience, 1 and 2 are the same. The node with more Vis will transfer to the node with less Vis. As for distance:

Each Aura Node directly supplies Aura within a certain range. The range of any Aura Node is equal to one-quarter of the maximum Vis it can hold:
  • Node's Range (in blocks) = 0.25 × Node's Maximum Vis
  • Locations not within range of an aura node will have no aura. This is rare naturally, but can be induced when moving nodes.

However, I don't believe flux is transferred, only Vis. It's the transfer of the Vis which causes transfer-related Flux. The amount of Flux is related (linearly ? geometrically ? exponentially ?) to the amount of Vis transferred.

If you're building a lot of crystal clusters, you may want to also build some crystal capacitors. Those, in my experience, greatly mitigate local Flux.

Finally, if you're into bees at all, the Pure bee is amazing. Getting the last of the line, the Pure Bee itself, is kind of pain. It can only be done with the hive basically right on/next to the pure node itself, and only during a full moon. Seriously. But, the result is amazing.

And, if you got Pure Bees, it means you got Rejuvinating Bees, which work better then crystal clusters in my experience.
