Hello. I need help with the portal gun mod. If I place the two portals relatively near each other the portals become clear and the work just fine. However if they are really far apart from each other's the insides are lets say for the default mainly black and some orange or mainly black and some blue. When the portals look this way if I walk through them I get teleported to the other side but I am always stuck inside a block and it is really annoying. Please help?

The colors are due to a WIP render code for portals IIRC. The getting stuck in a block, however, is just bad placement. You will need a least a one block gap between the portal and the ground to avoid getting stuck.

It varies. It only happens to me when I'm on a server, but others have reported both SSP and SMP issues.

What appears to happen is you dont load the world as fast as you arrive in the new area. So when the chunk loads you have fallen .5 blocks into a block before its loaded. It doesnt happen when the portals are nearby because you havent loaded new chunks and the client knows not to make you fall thru the block. This can be shown by using a jetpack upon arrival to keep from falling into the block, or alternatively to escape it if you forget.

Other work arounds: put portal higher as mentioned, put a sticky piston on the first two blocks in front of the portal that can retract when you arrive (maybe controlled by a piece of string on hook at floor level), or place some water in the same place and float up when you arrive.

According to opis, PortalGun causes all chunks with a portal in them to be force-loaded.

That said, with a 16Gb 64bit SMP game I always get stuck if I use my long distance portals - the ic2 jetpack so far has been the only way to break free short of breaking the block I'm standing on. And that is with the portals one block raised so I have to jump into them. Its just good hygiene to one-block high the portals as it stops mobs and creatures from using them.

Force loaded server side, not client side. Those are two very different meanings.
