Greetings,

How do I change the Player Spawn Point? Or the Location of the real world Nether Portal?

So, I just upgraded from MONSTER 1.05 to 1.09 last night. and did a full server wipe (catching up in Creative mode for a couple hours).

New base is a biome 600 blocks away, don't want my new users to have to figure that out (For many these are their first intro's into Minecraft)

On my last world, I had 3 minute run every time I returned from the Nether to get back home. I could use the player created Nether Portal above my base get to the nether, but when I tried to come back, it brought me to some OTHER nether portal in the real world. I ended up mining a tunnel all they way home. but I would like to just appear back my bases's nether portal. When I destroyed the OTHER nether portal, and tested, the game just made a new Nether portal 1 block in front of the old one =([DOUBLEPOST=1391614240][/DOUBLEPOST]--also, when i tried to do research on the topic. most of the straight forward answers were almost a year or older.

You'll need to break the nether portal - nether side and get someone to come through via your overworld portal. That way it'll generate a portal linked to that gate in the correct place. Then you'll have to trek across the nether to your actual portal.

If I remember correctly, Mystcraft comes with Monster? If so, I'd suggest making some simple linking books and travelling to and from the nether via a pair of linked books on bookstands.

In the nether make a portal at co-ords that are your overworld co-ords divided by 8 (so overworld at 800,800 would be 100,100 in Nether).

This is a vanilla "bug"/"feature". If you leave it to make and connect portals, they will connect wrongly. Had the same problem on my server. My nether portal would link to a friends portal, which then meant I was 20 chunks away from my base. Took a short trip in the nether (since it's 8 times smaller), built a new portal, and bingo, I have my own portal in the nether.

Mystcraft is the better option though with it's linking books.

If you wanted to get into command blocks, I'm sure there is a way to teleport anyone who goes into the normal spawn area to teleport where you specify. Mystcraft is also a good alternative as people have already mentioned. No need to go back and forth through the nether. Really depends on how dumb uninformed some of your players are and how much work you want to do to avoid instructing them.

I changed the SpawnPoint with MCEdit (www.mcedit.net) when I was deleting a block that was crashing users. very easy to change the spawn point!
