Is there anyway to turn off the greg tech machines with redstone or some other type of signal? I've tried just a regular redstone signal but no luck, I wish to know because if my storage units aren't full then the industrial machines just keep draining it and not actually doing any work which puts it in a cycle of being unable to recharge

That typically means that your power situation is too inefficient (has some cable loss, no matter how small) to power the the device, other than cutting the power to the machine, there is no other way to turn off GregTech machines.

Use an EU-Splitter cable to cut the power. Applying redstone to the splitter will stop all energy flow through it.

The thing will only drain your power (and also restart the process) if you have insufficient energy rate (i.e less than 128 eu/t for bauxite), for best performance put dedicated+suitable energy storage directly next to each of your GregTech machines (i.e MFE next to Industrial Grinder/Blast Furnace ) to make sure you don't get the insufficient energy thingie again..

The best way if you happen to stuck like that and don't want to drain all your energy is to cut the cable and connect it again after you have enough eu to finish 1 cycle, just remember that splitter cable has 0.5 eu loss per block., and all recipes will restart even if you supply 0.5 eu less than the requirement needed.. maybe you can put the splitter cable before the storage unit..

Energy levels will not subtract from the total EUs unless the loss is greater than or equal to 1 eu, so if you put a splitter cable just before the grinder with no other cables around it (I'm not certain why you would want to do that, at that point the operation would work because no loss would occur with any other cable), it would perform the operation as normal because the loss of EU would get rounded down to 0.
