Gray Blaze in Overworld?

While playing on a friend's FTB server, I saw a mob that looked just like a blaze, but it was gray and above ground during the day. It attacked about two times per second, so I ran to grab my bow and arrow (I was right outside my house) but when I came back, it was gone. After searching the Internet for such a mob, I was unable to find any information. Does anyone know what it was?

Sounds like a basalz.

In the right light a Blizz might look grey; and they're common(ish) in packs that have them

And to finish it off, there is also the Blitz

Thank you guys! It was definitely the Basalz. I can't believe I couldn't find any information on these mobs before. Lol. I need to step up my Google game.
