Problem Give command not recognizing any block Id's

Hello,

Ive tried looking for the solution here on the forums but could not find anything immediately pertaining to the issue im having.

While attempting to use command blocks with the /give command i couldn't get it to execute when activated. I then tried to attempt to run the same command through console and the following error returned: "The server could not find the block you were looking for." At first I was attempting to use non vanilla block ID's and then tried the same command with dirt, still nothing. Other commands, such as the /say command, work properly. MY next option will be to remove forge essentials and retest. If anyone has any insight to the problem id be glad to be privy to it. Thanks.

The server is a fresh install of Direwolf20's FTB. Service Provider is Creeperhost, 2 gigs memory, 2 cores, with the only added mod being Forge Essentials. This isn't a defamation/promotion of my service Provider.

after running through every available option with Forge Essentials and config files with no luck I removed the mod. I installed Fighu's mod, updated permission sets and at least have the ability to call Vanilla block ID's. If anyone knows how to call non vanilla variant blocks (IE: 617:2 an Electric Furnace) I'd greatly appreciate it, as I keep getting an error stating that the ID's are invalid numbers.
