Hey everyone!

I'm playing on a server with a custom pack (GT, IC2, BC, ComputerCraft, Factorization, Minefactory Reloaded, ReactorCraft, Steve's carts, Thermal expansion, Universal electricity,...). Usually I go for (advanced) solar panels but with GT installed they need silicon plates (-> industrial blast furnace) and since GT disables a lot of the really useful machines (e.g. the electrical engine), I'm now looking for a way to produce enough power (EU and MJ!) to later get all the GT-machines (tier 2 macerator,...) and more.
Currently I'm using a combination of Tinker's construct, a stirling engine (charcoal) and DartCraft solar panels. Since the latter only go up to tier 2 (8x tier 1 make 1x tier 2, like in CompactSolars), there's not that much power but at least I already got a metal former (and working on a plate bending machine), which should make things a little bit easier.

Does anyone have a suggestion what I could use to produce enough EU and MJ (causing as little lag as possible and not using like one stack of iron blocks for a little thing) to bridge the time til I'm able to get the GT solar panels?

I always used the diesel and semi fluid generators to start. You can burn BC oil until you start making fuel and then use that. I also used to feed the semi fluid generator with creosote oil form RC. Not sure if you have that installed. You definitely need some CESU's or MFE's to store the power since the output is low, but it will get you plenty of power to run the initial machines you need to get going.

Factorization solar panels are a godsend. That is, if you're willing to cheat in the uncraftable Solar Boiler required to make the relevant Energy Bridge.

I was, and the setup works wonderfully. It requires a fair bit of room, though, and loads and loads of silver, so it's not as overpowered early game. Later on, though, you can produce enough power to keep a steady MV current going, or run a Quarry at (near?) full speed using Tesseracts.
