Details of the issue Whenever i open my inventory my game crashes, i have tried opening chests and crafting benches and crashed both times
 
Try reset NEI, rename or remove the folder NEI that's located in your saves folder and then start the game again.
 
Well, that does sound like my own problem a few threads down... i will read with interest
