Is it repeatable? yes,
type into the item search box of NEI/ JEI the letters
(normal SP world)
"pa", still all good,

if you continue with "r", game freezes and then crashes.

I could not duplicate this exactly BUT I did run into an almost identical problem in the creative mode search box.

A similar problem happens with "water" - not in NEI/JEI, but in the vanilla minecraft Creative mode search box. Go into creative mode, click the compass to open the search box, and type in "water" - game freezes and about 5 secodns later, crashes.

I tried opening my NEI/JEI and looking for "par" and my list did work for me.

But two issues do seem related - both of our log files mention "Brandon's core" and Ender IO, if that helps the troubleshooters at all.

For completeness sake I also tried "par" in the Creative mode search box and nothing happened.
