FTB Trident server wont let me start it with any mod in it and I cant connect to it.

If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Details of the issue I downloaded the FTB Trident server and the modpack. When I ran the server it kept giving me errors. I did all the eula confirmation stuff and installed it all correctly as this isn't the first server I've set up, just the first modded one. I look at crash reports and it is the journey map mod giving me errors. I proceed to remove that mod from the mods folder and restart the server, however it kept giving me error messages until I removed every single mod. I then try to join the server without any mods installed on vanilla Minecraft but it stays on the logging in screen and is giving me an error on my server logs that says something about my client being vanilla minecraft. I then decide to go on forge 1.7.10 without any mods and it tells me I have a "unsupported modified" version of the game even though I downloaded the recommended forge 1.7.10 version of the forge website. Please help.
