Over the last few weeks ive been ltrying to build houses, buildings, ect in Mincraft (FTB Launcher) and yes i am a crap builder, and i was wondering... where is all the aesthetics mods in i.e Monster witch boasts about beeing the biggest mod collection in FTB.

Yes i know some of the mods in Monster does give some aestetics blocks but in a tech way imo.

Compare the Monster pack (FTB Launcher) to Resonant Rise (AT Launcher)
there is a few mods that spring up:

Carpenter's Blocks

Witch is a mod that can make a huge difference in making houses imo.

Extra Trees

(Ender IO) with the lights

EnhancedPortals (Still tech but more aestetics portals)

MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod

Thats is really what i think is missing in most of the FTB packs.

I know that Slowpoke101 and the other people on the FTB team cares about ballance in the mods but i really would like to see more mods with interest in "living" in Mincraft then "teching" in Minecraft.

Dont get me wrong here all the mods in the FTB packs are sooo cool but i feel like the focus on Minecraft has shiftet alot from Building and beeing creative to just Mining and progressing up the tech tree, witch for some people is fine but im missing that element where i feel that when i build something in Minecraft i would like to call a place for "home" and a place that i would like to stay and im not fine with a cobblestone house or a series of 9x9's with no soul.

So my pledge to the FTB team is bring some "decor" mods into FTB.

Kind Regards
JB

the thing with FTB is, they release packs which they try to make as stable as possible, and with a certain reason or theme for the pack.
for example Monster was put together with mods which Slowpoke wanted to use for a new FTB monument map.

BUT if you ever wanted to add more mods to a FTB pack, you're able to do so.
if you're lucky, some of the mods you want to add are in the universal configurations, which makes the process of adding that mod alot easier.

now comparing Resonant Rise with FTB isn't really a good thing to do... as FTB tries to make themed pack, and Resonant Rise is basically a modpack with as much mods shoved into it as possible.
while that's not a bad thing for Resonant Rise, it also means that not everyone can play their pack because of all the mods that are in there, demanding alot from your computer.
but with the themed packs from FTB will demand alot less from your computer because there are alot less mods, but you're given the option to add more mods if you like.

Yusunoha i know i have the option to put in other mods and cross my fingers that it works.

The problem with that aspect is:

Not all people have the knowhow to edit cfg's for ID conflicts or other aspects for problems that can carry along.
Not all people are "remember" to add the mods after an update.

So if it works there is still maintinance required for adding mods to an excisting pack.

Resonant Rise gives you an option when you install the pack to what mods you want in there so you can make it fit to your computer so everyone can play it :)
Monster also have the option to add or remove mods but the good thing about FTB packs is that better cfg's and better confguration between mods.

All im saying here is that there might be people that would like to build more aesthetic but dont have the options within the current packs wich i think is a shame.

don't get me wrong though, I love both Chisel and Carpenter's Blocks, and combining them can create some very awsome looking builds, and I also wish they would add it in every modpack.
but more mods also means more work, and FTB prefers functionality above aesthetics as you mentioned, and I can understand that, as someone who puts together his own modpack aswell.
putting mod A with mod B sounds simple, but there comes alot with it to actually get mod A to work with mod B, and mod C, D, E, F etcetcetc

but FTB also prefers to create unique packs, instead of shoving the same basic modpack into each other pack, and have only about 2-3 mods be different from the packs.
that does make me thinking though... how about a pack with alot of aesthetic mods in them? it would probably not have many of the popular mods, but for people who want to build aestheticly it could be interesting...
hopefully when the new launcher from FTB/Curse comes out the packs will allow you to put in a mod without much effort, but for now the universal configurations is probably as good as it's going to get

I can understand what you meen Yusunoha and i understand you 100% :)

Making a aesthetic mod pack ... perhaps but that will shift focus once agian from Teching to only building what i feel is missing the the normal packs is more "decor" and a way to make your home feel like home and not a base where all the techinical stuff is :D

i just hope that the FTB team has an oppinion on this witch i would like to know what is :p

...Doesn't Monster have Carpenter's Blocks? Hm, seems not. It has Chisel, though. Small Victories, I guess.

As for Decoration, aside from Carptenter's Blocks and Chisel, there is Geostrata by Reika, which adds a couple types of rocks that can be made into various kinds of bricks(which all look pretty sweet IMO), there is Mariculture(which adds Limestone and variants of it, some that look better then most mods options, and Pearl Bricks, which look sweet regardless), Railcraft(yes, it has decorative blocks, in fact tons of them, though most are subtypes of other kinds), Magical Crops has some...
Other then Carpenter's Blocks and Chisel, there are tons of nice decorative choices. Those two are just dedicated aesthetics mods, though.

It would be cool if they made a mod pack of a theme of more exploration and aesthetics with only a few low tech mods but with a lot of world generation mods like battle towers better dungeons ATG BW4 aether smallboats (or small ships) chisel carpenters blocks furniture mod ect.

The problem is not lack of blocks, its the fact that most of them are just recolors of vanilla stuff. Why do modders insist on doing this? Vanilla textures are bleh. Ive already begun compiling a personal custom texture pack for certain blocks. Lots of good texture packs out there I just mix and match like I did in 1.4.7.

Modders insist on doing it because plenty of people use vanilla textures and it gives a common theme
And some are lazy :p
