So I was looking into making my life easier by making my game play like Factorio. I am new to the mod but have been trying to experiment with how all the mods come together. For getting supplies I wanted to relied on the Ender Quarry to keep the lag at a low. Then transfer the items ether by the Steve mod or just a basic ender chest.

I would then use ether a filtering system or use the computer storage to keep all items in a semi organised fashion. Then port them to there respective possessing units to be grounded up, smelted, and made into items. I would also like to be able to have the quarry get automatically moved to the next location but I don't know if there is a mod able to do that in this pack.

The issue I am worried I am going to run into is energy mix ups, items not being able to be transferred from storage to processing units. As well as from the processors to storage again.

The question would be what limitations will I run into when trying to attempt this? What processes will be unable to automate? Is it possible to have a moving, mine system? What storage can not be pumped in or out of?

And if there are any other suggestions that would be great!

Thanks,
Fishir

Applied Energistics is fantastic for automated processes, it just might take a while to learn it. I'll go ahead and explain my processing system to give you an idea.

So I have four 32x32 BuildCraft quarries running on EU which is being converted into MJ (the only source of power BC quarries accept) by 24 overclocked electrical engines from the Forestry mod. These engines can convert EU into both RF and MJ at a pretty reasonable ratio. From there, all the ore that gets dug up is automatically processed through a Thermal Dynamics pulverizer and furnace before going into the computer system. Anything I don't want put through this process just gets pumped straight in. I sort the ores from everything else using the itemducts and filters from Thermal Dynamics. This is the way I prefer to do it just because it makes things a bit simpler, but if you really wanted to you could have them all pumped into the computer system and then pulled back out for processing. This can be done with relative ease using the import/export buses from Applied Energistics. What you want to do with your processing is entirely possible and you shouldn't hit any limitations. There could be some energy mix-ups along the way, but these can all be fixed with various conversion processes such as RedNet cables and the electrical engines.

And as far as a moving mine system, the only thing that I can think of is programming computercraft turtles to break the quarry, relocate, and re-place it. If you can code, it sounds like it could be a fun project. Otherwise it might not be worth the trouble.

P.S. I'd recommend looking up some Applied Energistics tutorials to get yourself comfortable with the mod. It's likely what you'll mainly be using if you're going for optimal automation. This might be a good place to start:
