Hello everybody :)

I'm a vanilla player, I have some experience with mods but I'm wondering if I will be able to play Minecraft vanilla after I install FTB? I have downloaded FTB launcher but I'm hesitating to run it. As I understand it will download all the mods and then start the game. Will it use Minecraft located in C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming or will it create a new Minecraft folder?

I ask because I really want to try FTB out, but I also want to be able to play my Vanilla MC further :)

Thanks in advance

No, the FTB launcher will per deufalt make a minecraft folder in at the location you are running it from, that isntance of minecraft will be named after the mod pack you use, so even placing the launcher in appdata\roaming wont interfer with your old instalation of minecraft

Also if you are ever scared of loosing any worlds you've got you need to learn how to make back ups of them. just go to AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves and compress the folder with the name of you world into a zip/rar file and store it somewhere else. to restore it go to the same location delete the old save files and extract the back up to that location.

in FTB this can be done by going into \FTB launcher folder\used mod pack\minecraft\saves\

Thanks a lot for the quick answers, this is great :) Yeah, I've been making backups since I started to add a few mods like Rei's minimap, because I'am a bit paranoid like that from playing modded skyrim which very often screw up save games :D

Epic, It's time to Feed The Beast!!

Have a nice day everybody ;)

You have to wonder what they'll complain about next. Perhaps people will get mad when Xycraft stuff becomes useful, and they've deleted all of it on a 50x50 chunk radius.[DOUBLEPOST=1361872998][/DOUBLEPOST]Well, the threads will bury you alive, not the mods the mods are actually quite enjoyable. Oh god I can hear the angry mob marchig down my street already.

People will always find something to complain about, it's a part of human nature. I don't want to sound like a pessimist but it's not possible to make everyone happy & satisfied. As far as Minecraft goes, if they don't like a certain mod they are free to make their own of their liking. This is why I never bash on someones work which they made in their free time for free, for all of us to enjoy :)

An interesting approach, but would be very effective if you can live with having half of the planets population on your conscience :D
