With the latest change to forestry Sengir (at least in the Mindcrack's pack v. 8.1.0) has fixed the stacking issue drones used to had previously. While I consider the fix very positive I ran into a small inconvenience caused by it:
if you look at the following picture you can see how part of my automated cross-breeder is set up
20130219023859.png

In the previous versions of forestry the first drone would go in the first apiary with the princess, the second would go in the apiary on top and the the third (if present) would continue going up.
In the latest version of the mod this particular behavior has changed and now all drones will go in the first apiary until the stack of 64 is completed, which in my opinion makes any automation process more tedious.
Would be possible to make drones not stack in their dedicated slot inside the apiary? If not would be reasonable reducing the stack size (8 or 16 for example xD). This particular way of distributing drones in more than one apiary is used if many different automation and I feel it's kinda tedious and useless letting 64 drones build up before the next apiary starts working.
What is your opinion on the matter? (keep in mind I'm talking about the update that came out today for FTB Mindcrack).
I apologize for my English.

Sengir said somewhere (on these forums even) that he considers changing it back if it's a problem for too many people. The new mechanic is slightly better for managing pure-breed bees. You can use a RP regulator, a router, gates to switch the pipes, etc. to manage it.

Oh please Sengir, don't change that back, I like that bees which differ only in their generation number can now finally stack. Although I still have bees now and then, which are equal according to the beealyzer, but won't stack. Sometimes relogging helps that they become stackable.
If this should ever be reverted, I hope for a config option to switch that.

I definitely vote for not changing it back. If you want a breeding setup that distributes drones, it's still possible. You just need to adjust. I strongly prefer drones that stack to 64 in the alveary itself.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Its suprisingly easy to work around this as needed, but unless your bees have crazy long lives it doesn't take too long for a stack of drones to mount up.
Even manually shifting a few across should be enough to overcome this.

Changing it back will most likely cause a lot more inconvenience than a few minor problems like the first cloning cycle kicking off.

maybe change the apiarists pipe so you can say how many drones you want to be in the drone slot, and if that condition has been met, the rest of the drones will pass by it.

May I ask what version are you talking about? as far as I know Forestry 2.0.0.11 is the latest one and the changelog doesn't mention that particular change. I ended up using RP tubes but I would like to remove them to squeeze the design even more before the "video release". btw, something not related to the original topic: I noticed that Iron pipes switch direction whenever I log out and back in if a continuous redstone signal is applied to them (as soon as I log back in they are facing the right direction, but after a second it notices the redstone and acts like it was just being applied even if it was always on in the first place), any rumor about a future fix? =)

They could before the change, that wasn't what was changed. The only thing that's changed is that they stack when getting reinserted into the apiary and this breaks auto-breeders.

Actually this as already been fixed
Pipes wont insert a drone if there's already one in there (even if said drones stack)

Nice! Good to hear.
