Fastcraft causing lag?

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title:
Fastcraft causing lag?
Launcher Version:
launcher v1.4.7
Modpack:
Direwolf20 1.7.10
Modpack Version:
1.3.1
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
Recurring lag and fps drop over time

I've been playing this modpack since v1.2.1. with no real lag issues. When on creative and flying with a sash it lags...duh lol. I'm talking about the unplayable lag that quite a few ppl have made posts about that i was also seeing. changed the ram allocation from 4 gigs to 2 and went up in increments from there to not exceed 4.added various jvm arguments, reinstalled the modpack and launcher twice. changed video card settings, changed in-game video setting, disabled mystcraft and a whole bunch of other mods. this last time i reinstalled the pack and launcher i spent a good amount of time with the search function(a few hours at least) reading to see if there was something i missed. a few posts suggested disabling fastcraft, so i did. I'm using fastcraft version 1.2.1 and started a new world and did a huge amount of lag inducing things, like terra shatterer ss rank (funfunfun!) and terra firma wand. the wand when activated would drop fps and chunk updates to single digits lol, but when stopped fps and chunks updates would return to normal. then fly at full speed like 30 chunks away and do it all over again. then i decided to leave MC on after bulding a big reactor 9x9x9 with 20 mfr lasers and 6 ender io alloy smelters with sag mills and a 6k rf ae system lol. yes overkill, but i wanted to see the lag from these over time. usually with this setup after an hour or less the lag and fps drop would happen and i'd have to restart the game and launcher. after 3 hours, no change at all.

so this has been my experience, after disabling fastcraft it went away entirely. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a message to the devs of fastcraft if they aren't aware of it. I hope this helps others.

Unfortunately, with any optimization mod, it has different effects on different computer setups. This applies to fastcraft, optifine, cofhtweaks, fpsplus, all of them. You just happen to be one of the ones that doesn't have a benefit from it :( As for helping the devs of said mods, the biggest help for them would be knowing your system specs, and probably you bringing it to their attention on their threads. For example, fastcraft main thread is over on the ic2 forums. Just know you aren't alone. There are others that have no benefit. I don't exactly have any benefit from fastcraft, but I keep it around anyways(ie I see no change in fps/tickrate)

Why don't you also try out cofhtweaks to see if that makes a difference for you. Its still pretty early in its life but damn does it have potential. It does some of the same things as fastcraft(kinda) so maybe the way its done will be a benefit for you.
