extreme lag

I have, once again, encountered the reason why I have never been able to play FTB before.
Lag.

Running with the launcher, with extra allocated memory, and running Optifine (on the lowest settings), I'm lucky if I get 12 fps. Usually it's closer to 5 fps. The lag is just awful. My normal Minecraft runs fine.

I've tried everything I can think of to help with the lag issues. My computer is relatively decent and regularly runs Minecraft, Skyrim, Far Cry, etc. with no lag problems. I'm not sure what it is that is causing FTB to lag so badly.

Is there anything else that can help with this that I haven't yet tried?

Second: We need system specs. Decent to me would be considered top of the line to others.
