Easiest way to add custom tools.

I am unsure what the best method is for adding custom swords,axes,pickaxes, etc is. Contenttweaker documentation examples arent the best place as a beginner to modding. I also found their discord to be largely unhelpful. Reddit seems rather sparse on contenttweaker stuff. I can basically get a custom pickaxe to show up in my mod through contenttweaker but no idea how to give it actual mining speeds, durability and tool damage. The documentation is not very helpful to a new modder. Any help to point me in any direction to learn would be greatly appreciated.

That's a really good question - ContentTweaker is great for adding new custom items, but I don't know about useable tools and stuff. I don't know of anyone actually trying to just create new tools off the bat! What's your end aim for them? Are you looking to have items made of new materials?

Just a pickaxe that could mine cobalt level. The plan was to add it to the mod and make a custom craft recipe. I do not plan on adding tinkers to the pack.

Never used it myself- but MC Creator looks to be user friendly option for modding MC.
(seen a number of small mods on CF made using it)

I rather not use mccreator, pylo will take claim of your work if any mccreator stuff is used. That program is also very frowned upon in the modding community unfortuantely.

Ah, are you adding cobalt separately as some sort of custom ore? Because cobalt spawns with tinkers.

Do not use MCreator, it's pretty bad in that it breaks on servers, among other things. CoT should actually be able to do it, and I'd be willing to help you use it if you'd like. Just poke me on discord (LordPINE hashtag five five one one) if you are interested.
