Bug Downloaded the new App yesterday, worked fine. Today, nothing.

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

EDIT: I don't want to mark this solved because I don't know WHY this happened or HOW, but, I did find a way to make it work. Gonna keep it up in case anyone else stumbles across this issue unless told otherwise.

After typing that bit at the bottom my brain tickled, and I realized that both FTB and regular MC connect through creeperhost, right? Isn't that the validation server or something? At any rate on a whim I decided to launch plain regular minecraft and run it (not sure the version matters). Closed it when I got to the title screen, and ran (fresh) installation of FTB App as administrator (VPN is back on BTW).

And it worked! Huzzah! Something about the connection must have needed a kick in the butt to get it rolling again. No idea. Is there a way to submit this as an actual bug? I've never had to before. /EDIT

---------------------------------------------

Long and short of it it was working fine, and between yesterday and now (having shut down my computer) the app doesn't even start. It pops up on task manager, but nothing happens. An error.log is generated immediately and here's the pastebin.

I've tried repairing through the installer as well as uninstalling and reinstalling and going so far as downloading the installer over again, but not, because the name of the file is the same so no update to it. I've even tried running as administrator (despite being on the hidden administrator account) and killing my VPN.

I don't know if it means anything, but there was an oddity I noticed in the launcher.log At 5:39AM this morning it says:

May 10, 2020 5:39:56 AM net.creeperhost.creeperlauncher.CreeperLogger info
INFO: closed null with exit code 1006 additional info:

And then proceeds to not list anything else after it... But, my computer was off at that time. It's a new house rule that I HAVE to shut it down.

Instead of updating I've done more digging and it would appear I have more evidence. I was backing up instances and so on and did some more experimenting, and I think it has something to do with having instances the game didn't generate i nthe instances folder. I made a copy of my instance it and added "Backup" to the beginning just in case. Low and behold, removing it and my origional instance fixed it nicely.

Thanks a lot! This helped me.
I had the same issue with ftb app not starting up after I made a copy of my instance(was making a backup), as soon as I removed it from the instances folder, the launcher would show again instead of just being there in task manager.
