I'm getting ready to launch what is effectively a slightly modified Mindcrack Pack server. That is, essentially I have removed XyCraft and updated the configs for GregTech. (These are minor; mostly I disabled the expensive recipies because these players are new to FTB and proper balance is my least concern; this is a whitelisted server.)
As I understand it, right now my players can connect using the standard old MindCrack pack and play, but the recipies for GregTech are different in NEI because the client config doesn't match my server config. Is there a straightforward solution to this? Looking through the guidelines, this doesn't seem to be something I should use a custom modpack for, as the gameplay isn't substantially different outside of recipe changes.
I don't mind having my folks download a pre-configured FTB launcher; that would actually be quite ideal, but how do I go about doing that? When I tried just giving my FTB folder to my friend, it complained because paths did not match for several libraries. (This was linux to linux.) I'm sure also that trying to do this in a cross-platform manner would fail, so it seems less than ideal. Also of course, this breaks anytime an update happens, as the new configs from MindCrack will then overwrite my custom ones.
What's the correct solution here? Is there some way to have the server provide custom configs to the client?
