I'm kind of confused about the redpower2 volcano's. I always assumed they spawned when the world was generated. But I recently came back to a village nearby my base and suddenly 2 volcanoes were right beside the village that weren't there before. How does this happen?

Which I really find a shame because volcanoes look kind of bad. Is there a way to disable this in my server's config files or something because i dont want more to spawn. All the lava I need I get from the nether anyway.

Thanks in advance

Eloram stated it quite a long time ago (a year and half) that she would not provide a way to disable her trees and volcanoes, appart from you not taking the World gen part at all (so no nicolite, and no advanced RP machines as a result)

Ah yeah I found it on her FAQ now. That sucks, I wouldn't mind them if they looked more like an actual volcano + spawn less frequent + have more lava. Which is what eloraam said is going to happen. I just hope it'll happen soonish

I dunno, I haven't had volcanoes spawn where non were before. Did you perhaps regen the chunks or something? I know that volcanoes can look different (or be in different spots, or exist or not exist at all) even if the seed of a world is the same, so it might be possible the chunks regened and redpower decided to put down some volcanoes there.

I agree though that the volcanoes look pretty terrible atm. The only ones I kinda like are the really tall ones, but then still I wish they had more of a crater on top. The only part about Redpower that I don't like is that Eloraam forces volcanoes and rubber trees in your world and that she doesn't even consider making an option for it... She might have a valid reason, but still.

Rubber trees one day will be for rubber for cables...
As long as the rubber they produce is the same as the one from IC2 trees I see no reason why I would ever want to use RP2 trees... and I won't blame Elo if she ever adds something that needs those trees, if I disabled them in my world. I mean I disabled them in that case, so it's my own fault I don't have them (even though I could enable them and then move to new chunks to generate them...).

Maybe if I ever get into MC modding...

I haven't regenerated any chunks but that's what im going to do to try get rid of the unwanted volcanoes now. I agree with you about the volcanoes, id love the things if they looked better/bigger/less frequent but as of now its just not cool. Eloraam does that with her mod more often, like how other people cannnot use bluetricity for example. I'll just roll with it for now and play with MCEdit a bit. Rubber trees i don't have a problem with tbh. They look pretty cool, IC2 trees are more effective but hey.

one day? you can already stick their wood in an extractor to get rubber right now.
only if you have IC2, if you use it without, then how you get the rubber for the bluelectric cables? or how you even make it rubber?

I think heard a youtuber say once that the bluelectric cable will eventually stop using wool in the recpepie but start using rubber. This will probably be with only RP2 trees.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Volcanoes are seed fixed, I've genned the same seed a few times and volcanoes always landed in the same spot.

Personally their not the prettiest things to look at, but they've been improved now random chunks don't skip the gen. (though they dont like trees).
-They're genned after the world, so it causes issues with trees and suffocates mobs in the area.

Usually the taller, thin ones make a better sight- but the basalt is an awesome building material.

Volcanoes are only partially seed fixed - their generation has a lot to do with your jar files as well as any world gen. If the bonus chest affects volcanoes like it does passive mobs, then it can also affect volcano spawns.

Having said that, most people using FTB won't get to see that the volcanoes aren't directly tied to seeds as it works very different from Magic Launcher, which was very...adamant...about displaying that function, as well as killing off all of your achievements.

I'm pretty sure they spawn when the chunk is first loaded, but they....erupt, I guess you'd say. I remember travelling to a distant land, and starting to set up shop, then noticing that all the grass was dying. The volcano sort of grew up right beside me, which was pretty epic. I'm thinking perhaps the OP loaded the chunk, but didn't stick around long enough to see the volcano 'erupt', and came back to find them there.

They generate after everything else indeed, so when they do appear they destroy any wood/leaf blocks that intersect where the basalt spawns, leaving the tops of the trees behind.. or rather the leaves behind.. massive lag in a jungle i tell ya with all those leaf blocks suddenly starting to decay. but hey. a great way to get apples if you just started near one. just run around it to collect.

If Eloraam won't give an option in the config, then redpower does not make it in my minecraft. I love redpower, but if Eloraam won't, then goodbye redpower.
