I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I force updated 3 times already, I've tried playing on a Windows perfectly, but it's my first time on a mac.

You probably somehow missed those warning dialogs:
Code: 
[19:32:45] [ERROR] MainHelpers.printInfo:59: 32-bit operating system. 64-bit is required for most mod packs. If you have issues, please try the FTB Lite 2 pack.
[19:32:45] [ERROR] MainHelpers.printInfo:69: Java 6 detected. Java 7 is recommended for most mod packs.

Reasoning: 64-bit is required because 32-bit has memory limits and java7 is required because almost every pack has mod which requires java7
