Direwolf20 Server - Odd spawning behaviour

I recently set up a Direwolf20 server that me and a few of my friends would be able to play on, and over these last couple of days we've all noticed that none of us had actually seen an enderman at all these last few days.

As such i figured i'd try and find some endermen myself. It appeared that no matter where i was going there were no endermen spawning anywhere. Eventually i gave myself an eye of ender and went looking for a stronghold and accessed the end. It was only in there that i saw some endermen since we'd set up this server.

So i redownloaded the server config from the main site, and this time didn't bother to change any of the server.properties files. This world i was able to see endermen in... however after changing the server.properties level-seed (to 2013) and white-list to true, the world no longer had endermen in it again.

I've been trying to work out if i'm overlooking something simple, but i can't seem to work out what is causing this odd behaviour.

Any ideas?

i have the same issue, im not sure if we are just unlucky, or if it has to do with biomes...

I'd love to know what is causing this. I have a tip at least, they do spawn, my daughter said she saw one, I didn't believe her until I'd finally seen one myself.

I've played for untold hours on my server and have seen only 1 Enderman in broad daylight in a desert, alas he eluded me. So in the end I just had the admin account gift me some pearls after I'd wasted hours running in the dark in search of them.

I didn't realize DireWolf20 hatred of endermen ran so deep that he would hinder their spawning frequency. heh

ok, just for the fun of it. I downloaded and installed Direwolf20's last save world in his LP series. to check if there were any endermen spawning. I believe it was the first night I ran into 2 of them.

So I am guessing there is a setting that is making the enderman not show up for you.
