Botania terra steel gives you five hearts for a full set. Unless that's changed I think you need another item for it now. Then there's heart canisters that you are aware of.
In 1.8.9 living armor which is essentially bound armor can be trained to give you more health. But that's obviously not in DW20 pack.
In DW20 the TiCo heart canisters and Terrasteel armor are the only ways of increasing your HP.
There is a way of regaining life sacrificed from ExtUtils but it's a rare drop. Soul of a forgotten diety.

Also, the Ring of Odin from Botania gives ten extra hearts, as well as constant regen and immunity to several types of damage. Terrasteel armor used to to that, but that functionality was moved to that particular Relic when it was added.

I was under the impression that for that ring if Odin to give the extra hp you needed a full suit of terrasteel armor?

Maybe. I dunno. I doubt she'd require it be used with the top-tier armor, but then again, the Ring of Thor does only work with the top-tier pickaxe...
