Hi,
i am playing on a server with some friends.
I absolutely love @Reika 's mods and want to build a Fission reactor now. However, my experimentation in SSP showed that when a Reactor melts down, it renders the world unusable due to extreme lag from the corium bringing me down to less than 1 FPS. I could not even clear it in creative.
To not annoy the other players on the Server too much, i concluded that i have to build the Reactor in a dedicated dimension, so i can delete the whole dimension from the save as a last resort if all else fails.
I have both mystcraft and RFTools in my pack, and am wondering what the best Dimension would be.
-The Mining Age from Aroma1997 is already utilized for other things, as well as the End and the Nether.
-I could use the Twilight Forest, but might want to do things there in the future (i have never used the mod so far)
I have used Mystcradt in the past, but not recently. Is it possible to cheaply create a stable world (ideally a void world), or do i still need spend hours over hours searching for the correct pages?
And how does it work with RFTools? Do the Dimensions unload when power is lost in the Overworld? That might be a bit too risky then for me.
Another option i have considered is using the AE spatial Dimension, but i am not sure if that still works.
Thanks in Advance for any suggestions.

I can speak on behalf of RFTools since this is what I typically use for this scenario.

Using RFTools, you can create a dirt-cheap dimension in any number of configurations. I typically go with a completely flat world made out of something uniform like cobblestone. This sort of dimension will probably cost you something like 10-100rf/t to run. This power cost is constant unless
a) You run out of power, in which case I THINK normal chunkloading rules apply when you're around but you can't enter the dimension safely (I believe you CANNOT forcibly keep an unpowered dimension alive through chunkloaders. In order to prevent people from freely quarrying them)
b) You have an Activity Probe sitting somewhere in the dimension, in which case it stops draining power when no chunks are loaded in it (not useful to you)

Dimensions unload just like any other place when you're not around, regardless of power. If you want to safely maintain a reactor in one, you'll need to use the chunkloader of your choice.

I don't have much experience with Mystcraft, but I gotta think finding the dimlets you need is a bit faster than finding the pages you need.

Personally I'd go with RFTools or Mystcraft since they both provide you the option of tossing away dimensions free of impact. Nobody wants to throw away their twilight forest, mining age, etc.

Mystcraft is an art. RFTools is a science. If you are looking to enjoy the excitement of braving potentially deadly unstable worlds to collect the pages you need to create your (hopefully) stable dimension, Mystcraft is for you. If you want to put in exact specifications and not be surprised by world eating instability, RFTools has your back.

Some things to.keep in mind:
1.) RFTools dimensions cost more RF to create and maintain if you specify rare or particularly useful materials for earth, liquid, and decorative blocks. A world made of Emerald Blocks might be a pretty landscape for your reactor, but be prepared for it to cost a fortune.
2.) Many of Reika's mods are sensitive to heat, and because of that, are sensitive to day/night cycle and biome choice. Jungles and deserts are notably warmer than ice plains. Use this to your advantage to offset heating/cooling deficiencies your design may have, but note it moreso that it doesn't go the other way and destroy things unexpectedly.
3.) As mentioned, you will have to chunkload properly to avoid your reactor to avoid power loss at minimum and accidental loading only part of your site, leading to meltdown.

As always, test in creative mode before building on your server (this includes biome and dimension as close as possible) to avoid catastrophic consequences. Good luck.
