Just want to clear something up. I am a member of a server which runs MC on v1.5, but I currently have 1.4.7 installed so I can play FTB. If I upgrade my vanilla Minecraft, will FTB no longer work? If that's the case, I assume I can just make a backup of my minecraft.jar file for each version and replace them when I want to switch between FTB and vanilla. Will that work?

yep. MultiMC is just about the greatest thing ever for modded minecraft
and upgrading your vanilla minecraft won't do anything, but I still reccomend MultiMC

What do you mean by "it won't do anything"...it won't break FTB?

You already have multiple instances if you're running FTB and Vanilla. You have the vanilla launcher and the FT B launcher. They are separate, so dont worry about updating vanilla.
The thing is, with multiMC, you can have both FTB and vanilla in the same launcher, at your convenience to pick.

I don't really need to consolidate my launchers as I'm only ever going to play one at a time and the .exes are both in the same place, so it's convenient enough as it is. But at least I know I can update MC without worrying. Thanks again
