Damage Indicators on an Ultimate Server?

The official MinecraftForum page for Damage Indicators mentions that the server must have the mod installed to allow clients to use it... in Vanilla. Is there any difference for an FTB Ultimate server?

I do not run the server and am merely a user of it, i hold no pull to get this mod used so if it is required by the server, I guess I'm not going to use it.
