I don't think MultiMC is 1.6.4 compatible? I used to use it all the time before making a modpack as it was the EASIEST way to just drag and drop everything in. Though I believe the custom modpack making thread claims to use the MuliMC style? Am I missing something?

What is the easiest program people use to quickly troubleshoot and build your personal your mod packs?

Magic Launcher any good?
Do you use the FTB Launcher and a random modpack of 1.6.4 value to start from and then add from there?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I use the Vanilla launcher. Create a folder to hold your modpacks, I call mine "Modpacks", in there create a folder for a modpack ex "DatPack".. So I have a path of c:\Modpacks\DatPack

Next download the recommended of Forge, download the installer version. Run that file, it will automatically install forge for you into the proper place.

Open the MC Launcher, click new profile, Name it whatever, check the game directory box and give it the filepath of you modpack folder.
Next go down to the Use Version dropdown list and choose the release with the forge your just installed mine is : "release 1.6.4-Forge9.11.1.953"

Save profile and than run the game once, exit out of the game, go to your modpack folder and drop in all your files.. Done and Done.

Only reason to use MultiMC5 really is for pretty UI and having icons. Vanilla launcher does all you need.

Sure thing, if you have any other questions about the Vanilla launcher just post it. It's all I use basically besides when I play on a server with FTB Packs

Somewhere over the rainbow.
Just to let you know that there's a new release of MultiMC5 on multimc.org webpage, be aware that this is still a WIP version and according to the links you can download it for Linux and OSX too... They have a new update system that will now work like it should and keep your MultiMC5 to the latest build available.

I'm using it since the start of my adventures with the DW20 1.6.4 pack and it works #1, wish there was the import from ftb function on this edition of MultiMC5 but I guess it will be added later, its so easy to copy an instance from the FTB Launcher manually that its not so much of a problem, just make sure to create an instance for 1.6.4, launch it once, edit the mods and add Forge 953 and after that you can copy and paste the content of the pack folder from your ftb folder into your MultiMC5 instance folder and it should work out of the box...
