Comets not spawning in the end (D.E)

So Im in my infinity world, killed the ender dragon, farming ender pearls for emc (EE3 is awesome) and I decide i need more draconium (however you spell it). I go flying out to find some comets, travel from my end portal at nearly 0,0 to 10,000 x and -10,000 y to one of the chaos islands (because, why not? I have the teleporter thing) and after panicing because the dragon there almost 1 hit me I teleport back, then realising I had not seen a single comet on the way there.
Am I just really unlucky or is this a thing that happens frequently?

I had to do a lot of stop and go in the end to find comets. They seem to be the last think to load on the map as you gen chunks. I'd suggest going back and fly in a zip zag stopping often to let everything load. They are rare though.

Another help is to set up 2 autonomous activators one to place and one with a fortune 3 pickaxe to break and get that little bit extra..

Yea I did find that when i got to the chaos island i got to 10k,10k then it waited about, 1.5 seconds then suddenly everything was there
Pretty sucky though, should be a config to change the chance per chunk of spawning.
