I was using ftb utilities for chunk loading but noticed It actually cut my fps in half. So my question is, is the chicken chunk loader a good option has anyone used it before?

You mean chicken chunks from chicken-bones?

That's the granddaddy of all chunk loaders. Back in minecraft version 1.4.7, it was the only chunk loader. :D

It has been in every one of my personal modded instances, and never caused me any problems.
Though I rarely use chunk loaders in general, because I play single player, I mostly use the spawn chunks instead. (a vanilla feature)

Keep in mind that this chunk loader is a block you place in the world. You'll need to remember that you placed one. This is not good for the management of loaded chunks. (and a reason why server owners don't like them)
