can't connect to the LAN

Details of the issue:
I'm trying to play crash landing with my bf, he opens the LAN and it appears to me but if i try to connect it loads for a bit and then it says 'operation timed out, failed to connect to the server', and if i try to open the LAN to him it wont even appear my server to him to connect. Am i doing something wrong?​

The one that opens for Lan might have to add a exception for the port that it selects in the machines firewall.
