Title question

I have a 2x2, 8 cubic meter low pressure boiler. I would like to add another layer on top making it 12 cubic meter. Is that possible? I don't want to try it and cause an explosion :)

As long as you have water in it, it won't explode.

But modifying it on the fly might remove the steam that is stored inside.

That said, if you ever want to make it into a 3x3, I recommend turning it off beforehand, just to be safe.

Quick cheat mode testing:
You can expand without exploding, but it will lose all stored steam and heat, starting anew. You should let the current fuel burn out before refueling, else you have to start again from 1°C instead of 21°C.
