Microsoft spent 2 billion dollars on Mojang, there is very little chance, that they would let the game die.
Microsoft is using Minecraft as an employee pool, to pull skilled developers and coders such as @McJty to work for them.
Odd, this is the first mention of the topic in a few weeks or more (in General Chat, at least). I think many of us have voiced our options at one time or another, and I'm not sure they've changed since the last time it was brought up.
I do know a number of Xbox Minecrafters who were quite put off with the state of the Better Together Update, but most of them simply went back to playing the pre-update version (since the update was actually a new game that downloaded, not really updating the original) and carried on like it never happened. They won't be able to play cross-platform, but their worlds aren't a buggy mess this way, and they're ok with that tradeoff until the state of the BTU is on par with what they were already using.

First time I've seen this topic on here for a long time (over a year) at least. If you want drama, post it on MCF- theres 4 a week over there
Since it been a while, and things have developed- personally I'm have for a non-drama fuelled/friendly chat about all this.
From what I understand Microsoft are focusing their efforts on Minecraft for Windows 10 (more recently named to 'Minecraft') [the free version we all got] and the Minecraft we play renamed to 'Minecraft: Java Edition'. Its not an unreasonable prediction that Microsoft would eventually (years out) mothball Java Edition in favour of the Minecraft (Win 10) flagship game. (this won't kill the franchise since theres the flagship, the console versions, marketplace, storymode, and whatever other money makers they come up with next)
Its also work noting that the Minecraft community itself may 'burn out' before this time occurs.
