I have a RP2 pump leading to a 5x5 iron tank, which links to another 3x3 tank. Both have been pumped chock-full of lava. The 3x3 tank connects to a thermal generator, which is parked next to an MFSU.
Everything is working great. In fact, too great. I don't see the lava quantities in either tank going down at the moment (they were before, but at some point I guess it filled up faster than my one thermal generator was able to use it). Thermal generator now says 10,000 units of lava and that amount isn't dropping. The MFSU energy counter is going up constantly, but the lava amounts in the tanks are not. The counter in the smaller tank flickers from time to time, so it looks like lava is going *through* it.
I even put a stone block under the intake grate that the pump is feeding from to see what would happen. Still no sign of tank levels dropping.
So I'm wondering... has lava just been buffered up in the pipes or the tanks or the generator, or what? I'm waiting it out at the moment to see if eventually this seemingly infinite lava source will dry up but so far nothing. Been about 10 minutes or so.
Ideas?
Update: I just tried stopping the pump that feeds the larger tank (duh...) and yes, if it stops pumping, the lava level in that tank starts to drop. So I guess the grate is sucking lava through a stone block (pretty awesome, as DW20 would say) and that pool of lava is down below is much larger than I guessed, since it shows no sign of depleting so far. Oh well, good for me.
