Blood magic in agrarian skies

Were playing agrarian skies on a server, we got all the way through other quests.
However when we got to the blood magic in 'yer a wizard steve!'
When we place the blood alter it 'crashes' the server.
I say 'crashes' but the server just sits there doing nothing.
Is there anyway to fix this?
