Biomes O' Plenty versus Extrabiomes XL?

browsing the minecraft forums mod sections, i found an interesting biome mod, similar to the extrabiomes XL we already have in some of the FTB packs

it adds common biomes, like red rock canyons (mesas in this mod), greener swamps, and birch forests. however, it adds other new kinds of biomes, like a mystical forest, firey wasteland, boreal forest, badlands, and an origin forest (pre-alpha 1.2 colours), even some new tools and armour (mud and amethyst sets). also comes with Thaumcraft, Forestry, and Mo Creatures support

anyway, i think this mod would be a great replacement for ExtraBiomes XL as it gives players a much more varied world to explore and live in

I did actually replace Extrabiomes XL with Biomes O' Plenty some time ago, but I had some issues with it. That's why I've made the add-on, but it still didn't fix everything. Right now I'm helping ted80 to remove some bugs and I will be using it in my 1.5.1 world. However, for 1.4.7 I would rather stick to EBXL.

That's actually not true. You can use it in private packs freely. And it is also possible to use it in a public pack under some circumstances.

The problem with extra biomes that they didnt change anything in it for over a year now ... so nothing new is getting added

Well I hope they don't add anything new until they get all the bugs worked out of what they have so far. FTB is considering dumping extra biomes because it is so buggy.

But they are changing it, from what I'm aware of. I am pretty sure ScottKillen (or whatever) is adding new biomes, and he may be...fixing the redwood problem. I've seen several portrayals of redwood trees in biome-adding mods, and I can easily say his is the worst. Great for farming, terrible for...everything else.
If there was a config that showed the probability of each biome, it would make everything so much better because you could actually find biomes you wanted. If you want to keep 5 redwood biomes, make each one 5 times as rare so it's not overkill, instead of just losing them all.
