Big reactors turbine not working when not logged in

I have a BR turbine setup pumping out 24k RF to power a mining laser with lime foci and it's self sustaining when i'm logged in and checking stuff out. Once I log out and come back in, it somehow chews through all my ingots and everything grinds to a halt. Any ideas? Is it some kind of configuration?

It's a 7x7x17 turbine if that matters, the reactor produces ~2000mb of steam on the dot.

No they are not. The passive setup i had before which was also self sufficient never had an issue with that, i just assumed that was a non factor.
 
You're going to want to make sure all parts of your setup are chunkloaded (helps tremendously if you mind chunk boundaries when building your multiblock structures). If the Reactor is loaded but your drill is not, the drill will be unable to provide ore. Make sure your ore processing is also chunkloaded, else you will run into issues as well.

What would yall recommend for chunk loading? would a BC Quarry with some land markers covering my whole setup work? It says it loads chunks. The MFR chunkloaders are a pain to make.
 
ChickenChunks was a popular choice for many 1.7 and previous packs. If FTBUtils is in your pack, you can use that to load your chunks. There are many ways to accomplish the goal, but many server admins frown upon using the BC Quarry as a chunk loader. If it's a private thing (or SSP) disregard, but otherwise, I'd check with your server admins.

Yes it's private and i just went and played another game for a couple hours and everything was still running. So the quarry worked for my means. Thanks for your help!
