I was flying across the ocean when I noticed a slightly different colour in the water. I dropped down and into it, and found an oblong air pocket - about 3x4x5 blocks I guess. There was another one a short distance away. I had a look at the sea bed to see if there was a pile of sand or gravel that had dropped, but there was nothing evident there. Any idea what causes this? Just a world gen glitch?

could be a spawner just under the ocean floor, did you dig out the sand that had dropped?

The void was about 15-20 blocks above the ocean floor, surface spawners are usually evident by a large square depression in the surface. I've not seen one in the sea bed before, as I don't spend a huge amount of time down there, but I'd expect they'd look much like they would in the desert. There were no ususual sea bed features.

it is a vanilla bug, most of the time they are 1x1xsomething (X,Z,Y) and I think is a bug of when chunks load for the first time, that also makes walls of water on sides of caves for example.
