Hi there,

Hopefully this doesn't count as advertising, my aim is to share benchmarks from my new and previous hosts so that people here can compare with their own systems.

My old VPS was not quite supplying enough CPU power for my FTB server, so I have upgraded to a cheap dedicated server. Here is what UnixBench had to say:

Redstonehost Diamond tier VPS ($27 USD/mo)
http://beast.pwnz.org/VPSbench.html

OVH US Kimsufi KS 2 dedi ($50 USD/mo)
http://beast.pwnz.org/DSbench.html

Note the single threaded performance increase and the hard drive access increase, despite the dedi having a mechanical drive. VPSs can typically restrict hard drive bandwidth, something which Minecraft, and especially FTB, loves to thrash.
