There's a few bees which are usually easy to find but I can't seem to find in BOP.
Perhaps its just that the biomes are more rare, since there are so many. Tropical for instance, only seems to show up in vanilla Jungle biomes, which I have yet to find one despite covering a pretty huge portion of the world already. Another one is Water, which I am particularly searching for right now as I need it to get the Emerald bees. I figured water bees would show up in any sort of swampy area, like bog or swampland, etc. Haven't seen even one hive. Also I happened upon a Modest hive at some point but don't recall where. I have yet to find a normal desert biome but managed to get a cactus in a Lush Desert biome although the local hives were Sorcerous iirc.

So, where can I find my water bees? Anybody know?

[Edit] I just happened to find a single tropical hive in a palm tree in a Tropics biome. Unfortunately I did not get a drone when I broke it though, so I won't be able to breed them up unless I get real lucky and not lose the gene pairing with something else. At least we know Tropicals exist. Still hoping for Water bees though.

I blame bad luck. I have found water bees in BoP biomes, mostly rivers and lakes not too much in swampy areas

Are you searching for hives at night? They glow so this makes night searching for hives a good strategy.

Yeah I do my hive searching at night. I noticed some hives glow very dim compared to others. Tropicals are one of these. I haven't done much river searching at night though, I'll try that next.

You know what? I found a water hive! First I searched miles and miles of river without success. I usually search for bees using the modular power suit and glider, which gives me a nice slow aerial view of the landscape. Rivers did not have them.
However, after searching the ocean coast, along the beach biomes, I managed to find a little blue square that was not giving off any light. Turns out they don't. But it was definitely a hive. So now I'm breeding up my water bees. :)
Water bees are essential in both the Emerald and Oil lines, both of which I am after at the moment.

This makes me feel bad for bee users. I always run across hives and I just ignore them. I'll have to start gathering bees just to give to people.

Night vision is essential for any kind of underwater work. (well, that and a scuba helmet)
