Something strange has happened in my world...

I was experimenting with an aura node in the nether. My original thinking was that since the nether has no smooth stone naturally, I could place some, overcharge the node, and get it to infuse some stone that I place myself in a controlled manner. I haven't been able to get that to work yet, but in the process, I did produce a huge amount of flux, and set up a wisp farm around the node.

One day I came into my nether and the node had vanished without a trace. It had sat in the exact same spot for ages with no trouble. The next nearest node is 78 blocks away, so I don't think the two merged together (and surely I'd have seen them moving before that happened), so I'm completely stumped.

Anyone know what could have happened? If it makes a difference, the node's capacity was 230, and I had 8 crystal clusters charging it. Is there a mechanic I don't know about where high enough flux (or anything else that could happen when I'm not around) can destroy a node, or is it more likely that I ran into a bug that deleted it from my world? I used NBT Explorer to compare my current world save to a backup I made before the node disappeared, and didn't find any clues there; the node's just gone in the new one.

Flux shouldn't pop the node - it either merged with another (unlikely, they'd have to be close by and you'd likely've noticed the thing moving around) or bugged out (... not unlikely).

Such glitches are part of the reason why the mod author wanted to do away with them for TC4.

I've heard of Aura Nodes disappearing if you go to the nether while wearing Goggles of Revealing, could that be it?
Also if that happens again, you can just change the config file to regen. Aura Nodes if necessary.

Oh wow, that could be it indeed. The first time I noticed that it was gone, I definitely had my goggles on when I stepped through the portal. I'll test and see if I can reproduce it, and avoid doing that in the future...

Crystal clusters will only over charge a node to 110% of their normal max. They also will not infuse new ore unless over 1000 value.

This means you need to be over 910 base to infuse ores.

I've had this happen to me not once, but TWICE. It was in the Overworld though, not in the Nether.

The first time it was a small node from a silverwood tree I had planted, the second time it was a pretty large node (~500 vis) that I spent quite a bit of time growing and moving close to my base. Nodes can only merge as long as they are about 16 blocks from each other (not entirely sure on the exact distance, could be a bit more), but the nearest node is at least 100 blocks away so it couldn't have been that.

There must be a bug which causes them to disappear. I don't know if it's random or if I did something to trigger it but it sure is annoying. =\

A friends overworld node vanished, leaving no vis in a large area.

Also i thought it was 100 OVERCHARGE is needed to infuse new ore, thus requiring 1000 BASE?

Aha, so I need a much larger node to make that work. Thanks! It's hard to find specifics on how this stuff works...

Yep aura nodes unfortunately vanish all the time. I have pretty much given up on TC now after spending hours trying to figure it out. I have seen over a dozen aura nodes just vanish on the server I play on (both natural and created pure nodes).

Aura nodes do indeed vanish "regularly", for no apparent reason. I've had it happen twice within about two months of play. Happily, it's easily fixed by regenerating aura nodes in the config.

Sadly ... if you don't find a missing Aura node in the first 24 hours, you never find them.

(Law and Order - Duh Duh noise)

(I had to wait 24 hours to post this lame joke ... pity me)
